Your journey begins with an early morning flight from Addis Ababa to Gondar, Ethiopia’s “Camelot of Africa,” known for its ancient castles and rich history. Upon arrival, you'll be greeted and transferred to Simien Mountains National Park, stopping in Debark to secure permits.

At Michiby Point, you’ll start your first hike, trekking through dramatic mountain ridges, deep valleys, and towering peaks. The views here are jaw-dropping, with endless stretches of green wilderness unfolding before you.

Along the way, you'll spot Gelada baboons, locally called the “Bleeding Heart Monkeys” due to the red patch on their chests. These fascinating primates roam freely, often sitting in large groups, grooming, and socializing in a manner reminiscent of human interactions.

Accommodation: Camping at Sankaber Campsite

Wake up to crisp mountain air and an unparalleled sunrise before setting off on your trek to Geech Camp. The path follows the Simien escarpment, revealing endless valleys dotted with rock formations and dramatic drops below.

One of the day's highlights is Jinbar Waterfall, a spectacular 500-meter cascade that plunges into the abyss. The sight is breathtaking, with mist rising from the depths and birds of prey soaring overhead, catching warm updrafts.

Further along the trail, keep an eye out for klipspringers and bushbucks, gracefully navigating the rugged terrain. As you approach Geech village, the terrain changes to open grasslands, where you’ll see giant lobelias standing like towering sentinels among the wilderness.

Today’s hike takes you to Imet Gogo (3,929m), one of the most breathtaking viewpoints in the Simien Mountains. The ascent is gradual, allowing plenty of time to appreciate the shifting landscapes—from grasslands to rocky cliffs.

At Imet Gogo, the world opens up before you. Stand at the edge of the massive cliffs and gaze across a seemingly endless sea of valleys. The dramatic escarpment drops over 1,000 meters, with peaks and ridges stretching toward the horizon.

The area is rich with unique flora, including torch lilies, wild roses, and everlasting flowers, thriving in the high-altitude environment. You’ll stop for a scenic picnic lunch, then return to Geech Camp for coffee and relaxation before dinner.

Today’s trek is challenging yet incredibly rewarding. The trail climbs gradually toward Imet Gogo before descending into grassy valleys, then rises once more to Inateye Peak (4,070m).

The landscape is varied, shifting between grasslands, cliffs, and dense forests. Raptors—such as lammergeyers, tawny eagles, and vultures—circle above, scanning for prey among the rugged cliffs.

Upon arrival at Chennek, the campsite is surrounded by massive lobelias and rocky outcrops. This is one of the best places to spot the rare Walia ibex, an endemic Ethiopian species that thrives in high-altitude environments.

Accommodation: Camping at Chennek Campsite

Ascend to Mount Buahit (4,430m), one of Ethiopia’s highest peaks. This is the final trekking challenge, with steep climbs but spectacular rewards—including unmatched views over the Simiens and opportunities to spot Gelada baboons and Walia ibex in their natural habitat.

After reaching the summit, return to camp for lunch, then drive back to Gondar for a cultural immersion. Explore the Royal Enclosure, home to six castles, including Fasilidas’s Bath, an ancient ceremonial site. Visit Debre Birhan Selassie Church, known for its magnificent painted ceilings.

Accommodation: Goha Hotel

Return to Addis Ababa and embark on a comprehensive city tour visiting Ethiopia’s cultural and historical gems:
National Museum – Home to Lucy, the world-famous hominid fossil
Ethnographic Museum – Showcasing Ethiopia’s diverse cultures
Merkato – The largest open-air market in Africa

Farewell Party: Enjoy a traditional Ethiopian dinner with live music and cultural performances, then transfer to Bole International Airport for departure.
