About Hoya Tour Ethiopia
Our Story
Hoya Tour Ethiopia was founded by Assefa Argachew, driven by a deep expertise in Ethiopian geography and history. Holding a degree in Applied Geography and Sociology alongside years of experience in education, Assefa established the company on a simple belief: travel should extend far beyond traditional sightseeing to foster genuine connections with Ethiopia’s living culture while directly supporting local communities.
The name “Hoya” originates from a traditional word of welcome in the Dirashe language, spoken by the Dirashe people west of Lake Chamo—a community celebrated for its rich farming traditions, vibrant music, and cultural heritage. This name defines our core philosophy: every journey we design is built on warmth, mutual respect, and authentic human connection.
Responsibility

Community
Empowering local hosts, drivers, and regional guides so that every journey directly enriches the communities you visit.
Our Mission
Crafting authentic, immersive journeys across Ethiopia that build meaningful connections between travelers and local traditions.
