Bale Mountains National Park

Bale Mountains National Park, in southeastern Ethiopia, is one of Africa’s most important biodiversity hotspots. Its Afro‑alpine plateaus, cloud forests, and sweeping valleys create a landscape of striking beauty and ecological significance. The park is home to the largest population of the Ethiopian Wolf, Africa’s rarest carnivore, and the Mountain Nyala, Ethiopia’s iconic antelope.

Visitors can explore diverse habitats ranging from the Sanetti Plateau, with its vast moorlands at over 4,000 meters, to the lush Harenna Forest, rich in birdlife and endemic plants. Sof Omar Cave

Sof Omar Cave, located in southeastern Ethiopia, is one of Africa’s most extensive underground cave systems. Formed by the Web River cutting through limestone, the cave stretches for more than 15 kilometers with winding passages, towering chambers, and natural rock formations.

It is both a geological wonder and a spiritual site, named after Sheikh Sof Omar, a Muslim holy man who once lived in the area. Visitors can explore dramatic underground halls, echoing tunnels, and the river that flows through the cave, making it a unique blend of adventure and cultural heritage.
