Start your journey in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia’s bustling capital, founded by Emperor Menelik II in 1886.

Entoto Mountain (3,300m) – Panoramic views & Emperor Menelik II’s historic palace.

Enter Arisi Mountains National Park, Ethiopia’s nearest wildlife park to Addis Ababa, divided into four blocks.

You’ll depart Genet Hotel at dawn for a thrilling game drive through Awash National Park, where you’ll explore the steamy pools of Filwoha Hot Springs, hike to the misty Awash River Waterfall, and scan the acacia-dotted savanna for Beisa oryx, Defassa waterbuck, dik-dik, Colobus monkeys and—even if you’re lucky—cheetah and black-backed jackal. After a midday break (boxed lunch available on request), you’ll set off across volcanic plains toward Alidegehi Wildlife Reserve. In the afternoon light you’ll search open grasslands for Grevy’s zebra, Somali wild ass, ostrich and Soemmerring’s gazelle before settling in for the night at Doho Lodge.

Crossing fragrant eucalyptus forests and rolling highlands, you’ll arrive in Harar in time for the legendary hyena feeding ritual at dusk. As night falls, check in at Grand Gato Hotel and reflect on an unforgettable day.

Following breakfast at Grand Gato, immerse yourself in the labyrinthine alleys of Jugol—Harar’s UNESCO-listed walled city—where you’ll discover 16th-century mosques, bustling souks, and the stately Bab Hara gate. Your cultural deep-dive continues at Sherif’s Private Museum, home to ancient Islamic manuscripts and ceremonial artifacts, before an optional Harari-style lunch in a traditional courtyard. In the afternoon you’ll tour Arthur Rimbaud’s House and Ras Makonnen’s ornate palace, then enjoy free time browsing leather goods and coffee at the souk or visiting the Hyena Man’s Compound.
